Roxanne Euben, Wellesley College

Title: Islam, Gender, and the Politics of Humiliation

Professor Euben has published extensively on the interaction between Islamic and Western political thought, including topics such as jihad and political action, Muslim and Western traditions of cosmopolitanism, and travel and translation. She is the author of Enemy in the Mirror: Islamic Fundamentalism and the Limits of Modern Rationalism (1999); Journeys to the Other Shore: Muslim and Western Travelers in Search of Knowledge (2006); and writer/editor (with Muhammad Qasim Zaman) of Princeton Readings in Islamist Thought: Texts and Contexts from Al-Banna to Bin Laden (2009).
