Graduate Student Organization

Who is the Graduate Student Organization (GSO)?

The Graduate Student Organization (GSO) is a group of graduate-student volunteers. We represent graduate students’ interests to faculty and staff and facilitate discussions of how the Department can better support students. GSO meets with Department Chairs regularly, advocates for needed resources, conveys students’ preferences for job candidates, and organizes professional and social events—among other activities.

Current Facilitators:

Tom Etienne

Jon Griffiths

Kyilah Terry

SASGov Representative:

Kyilah Terry

How Does GSO Work?

GSO has a minimum of two representatives at any time. New representatives are publicly nominated and elected every semester, meaning that some representatives’ terms are staggered by one semester. Each representative serves for one year. Every month, GSO holds a public meeting wherein students voice their concerns and GSO updates students on their advocacy efforts. Our meeting minutes can be found here.
