Ph.D. Student in Political Science

Kyilah Terry is a doctoral student in Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research primarily centers on European migration externalization, climate displacement, and border security with a regional focus in East Africa, the Mediterranean, and Western Europe.

Previously, Kyilah was a 2022 Princeton in Africa fellow working in Kakuma refugee camp and a 2021 Policy Fellow with the Office of the Vice President (OVP). Her research in Kenya focused on the gendered impact of displacement and the climate-food insecurity-migration nexus in the Horn of Africa, while her work in the OVP encompassed immigration, national security, and democracy. She received an M.A. in International Relations/European Studies from Georgetown University in 2021 and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in International Area Studies in 2019.
