Ph.D. Student in Political Science

Deepaboli is a third-year Ph.D. student at the Department of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research interests lie at the intersection of political behavior and political violence, with a regional focus on South Asia. Her current work investigates how the political behavior of religious minorities in India is affected by majoritarian politics, particularly as majoritarian pressures are felt through media narratives and discourse. She employs a mixed-methods approach using qualitative interviews, surveys, experiments, and text analysis to understand the daily lives and collective actions of Indian Muslims.

Prior to starting her Ph.D., she worked on projects on urban transitions with CASI, University of Pennsylvania, and University of Oxford while based at the Centre for Policy Research (CPR) in India. She holds a Master's in Statistics from London School of Economics and a Bachelor's in Economics from University of Delhi.
