Daniela Valerio is a doctoral student at the University of Pennsylvania specializing in indigenous politics, ethnic conflict, and the political legacies of colonialism. With a regional focus on Latin America and Southeast Asia, her research primarily uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to examine how historical and structural inequalities shape the dynamics of minority representation, collective action, political participation, identity, and governance. She received her bachelor's degree in Political Science from ITAM (Mexico) in 2023.
