Website

Heather Swadley received her PhD in American Politics in 2021 and is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Swarthmore College. Her research activity covers three main areas: (1)American political development and public law; (2) civil rights laws; and (3) the politics of disability, race, and gender. In general, Swadley’s research seeks to understand how courts act as enforcement vehicles for or (more frequently) undercut struggles for civil rights and social change by analyzing the effects of institutional orders on judicial decision-making about such issues.
