Graduate Student Lauren Palladino Winner of the 2025 Penn Grad Talks, Social Science category

Congratulations to Lauren Palladino, second year graduate student in our department, winner of the 2025 Penn Grad Talks, Social Sciences category. Her talk, The Gender Gap in Political Tolerance: Explaining Women’s Attitudes Toward Free Expression outlines how she steps away from outdated beliefs and offers a new explanation of what might drive the gender gap observed in attitudes towards political tolerance.

If you weren't able to attend her talk, or didn't get to check out the livestream, I highly recommend watching the YouTube recording. Her talk starts at 2:38:15 and is only 8 minutes long. Her award is highly deserved; she did a wonderful job at delivering a clear and compelling talk and was masterful at adopting the Ted-talk style of the presentations.

This is the second year in a row that a Political Science graduate student has won this award, testifying to the excellence and commitment of our students and our program.
